Time-Lapse Fireflies by Vincent Brady

I completely fell in love with this time-lapse compilation of fireflies by Vincent Brady, primarily shot in Lake of Ozarks, Missouri. I remember moving from Brooklyn to upper New York and seeing fireflies for the very first time as a little girl. It was such a magical experience, and I still look forward to when the fireflies come out each summer. This video brought me back to those magical summer nights. Fake It Till You Make It

I can't even express how much I appreciated hearing this talk from the wonderful Amy Cuddy. I could really identify with it. I distinctly remember texting a friend from a high-profile fashion week event and saying "I feel so out of my league here, it's ridiculous." Her simply reply was "Fake it till you make it." After reading that, my entire attitude changed and I realized that even though I didn't feel like I deserved to be there (much like Cuddy, I felt like an 'impostor'), I had every right to be. For the rest of the event I felt confident, and I think it really showed.
I'm really grateful that I got to watch this gem from TED. I'm really going to try to implement these tips from now on.

Stone Sculptures By Jiyuseki

I'm completely mesmerized by these sculptures from Japanese artist Jiyuseki. I love the idea of making stone appear soft, gooey and malleable. The piece that impressed me the most was the white stone 'napkin'. It looks like I could pick it up and clean up a spill without thinking twice. This is stunning work.

I love this so much, and I have no idea why. Remember when you were little, and you would pick off flower petals one by one? This reminds me of that. Only cooler. These are so beautiful.

I have really fallen in love with this stock photo website called Fotolia. They have millions of images and I was able to use some on the blog! I really recommend that you give it a try! It's perfect for finding images to spruce up your blog or website, and all the images are royalty free. I found it to be a great resource to have access to, especially as a blogger. Check it out!

If you or someone you know is able to host, please sign up now. In 2010, The Fresh Air Fund's Volunteer Host Family program, called Friendly Town, gave close to 5,000 New York City boys and girls, ages six to 18, free summer experiences in the country and the suburbs. Volunteer host families shared their friendship and homes up to two weeks or more in 13 Northeastern states from Virginia to Maine and Canada.
THE FRESH AIR FUND, an independent, not-for-profit agency, has provided free summer vacations to more than 1.7 million New York City children from low-income communities since 1877. Nearly 10,000 New York City children enjoy free Fresh Air Fund programs annually. In 2010, close to 5,000 children visited volunteer host families in suburbs and small town communities across 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada. 3,000 children also attended five Fresh Air camps on a 2,300-acre site in Fishkill, New York. The Fund’s year-round camping program serves an additional 2,000 young people each year.

Let in the sun

I'm convinced that there are very few things prettier then NYC at sunset.

I took these on a city trip not too long ago. I love the colors in a sunset. I wish someone would design a sunset inspired collection. (preferably Proenza Schouler) It would be lovely.

This morning when I hopped on the computer to check my emails and such I found

My dad left it for me to watch. I have never been into sports. I played lacrosse as the only girl on the team when I was 9 ( I sucked). Later I did gymnastics for 4 years, only made it to level 3, and it resulted in a broken elbow and 2 surgeries ( yeah,that wasn't my calling either). Swimming and Ballet weren't my thing, so I always stuck with Fashion. I was never a tomboy. My dad, however, was the opposite. He always had dreams of being a pro baseball player as a little boy. The night of the 'miracle on ice' he wanted to watch, but his parents sent him to bed. He did watch the USA play Finland the next day. When I was younger, Miracle was my fav movie. I could name the players by memory, and my favs were  O'Callahan, McClanahan, Eruzione,, Johnson and Craig  ( and I totally had a huge crush on the actor that played McClanahan). Every time I would watch the movie, my dad would always cry at the winning moment. I didn't realize it, but yesterday was the 30tth anniversary.
I had never watched the full actual game. When my dad always cried, I never understood why. I always just though "wow. some people take hockey way to seriously". Well, this morning I watched the game, and I cried this time. It's not about the hockey. The win was a triumph for all of america. It was joyful.
If you haven't seen Miracle yet, I recommend you watch it ASAP. A great movie.
I think I'll put down Vogue for a few days and watch a game that changed the world.
