Sarah Goes To Prom!

(I'm in the center, to the left is my Kelsey and on the right is Edith)

I finally have pictures from prom to show you! Sorry it took a few days. Prom was fun. Four of my best girlfriends came over to help me get ready, and we had a really good time. I went with my friend Alexander (it was his Junior Prom) and I think it was a good experience overall.
Almost done!

(I love how creepy my little sister can be.)

Mother dearest helping me with last-min makeup before I walk out the door. As you can see, we decided not to go with the chignon. Once I tried the dress on, we realized that having the hair down was a essential. it was such a fun look, and having the hair up would have made it a bit boring.

I was pretty happy with my makeup and nails. We went simple with makeup (like I wanted) but not TOO simple. I went with a berry-tinted lip, pink blush, and darker golds and browns around the edges of my eyelids. Oh, and mascara. Lot's of mascara.

(and this, Ladies and Gents, is The Girl In The Check Scarf. hahaha)

I was REALLY happy with how my dress turned out! The length was PERFECT and it fit despite being a wee bit tight. (The top is corset-like and doesn't have any give at all. Scary stuff.) Luckily, we made it work.
I'm honestly going to miss this dress. What other girl can say that their prom dress had pockets? Rent The Runway is the best.

(can you find my puppy in this pic?)

My Friends! (sans Kelsey)

Siblings! Olivia, 13, is on the left and Rebecca, 12, is on the right.

It was fun!

A few of my friends were there as well! This is Cassie (left) and Michaela. How gorgeous are they???

Whew. Prom was fun. One down, two to go. Let's do this.

Happy Birthday The Girl In The Check Scarf!

As I was looking at my calendar, I realized that today marks the day that The Girl In The Check Scarf was created back in 2009. I can't believe we're two years old!
Thank you, my dearest readers, for reading, commenting, emailing, tweeting me, and for all your kind words over this period of my life. Your support means the world to me, and I am excited to continue to share what I love with you (Maybe there will be a post like this in another two years? We'll see what happens!). This blog has helped me grow and develop in more ways then I can count. Being in an area where next to no one knows high fashion, this blog has been a beautiful resource to me, and it has made me feel like I am part of the fashion community. It has even expanded to the point where I no longer feel that way, but I know I am part of the community. I don't know if I would have that if it wasn't for you, right now, sitting in front of your screen and reading the rants of a 16 year old from upstate NY.
In all seriousness, this blog has changed my life. Through it, I have gotten job offers, made close friends, interacted with some major brands, and overall gained invaluable experience. I can't imagine my life now without this blog! I love blogging now even more then I did when I first began as a 14 year-old two years ago.  My readers have been a huge support to me. I love adding little blips about what's going on in my life and having people tell me about their experiences, and it's incredible that whenever something good happens in my life I get SO much support from my readers. I love you guys! Blogging has been such an adventure! Fashion weeks, countless showroom visits and events, and I hope for many more in the future. So, here we are, 464 posts, 730 days, and 479 subscribers later we're still going strong! Once again, I thank you for reading and I hope you continue to follow! And Happy Birthday, The Girl In The Check Scarf!
(What better way to celebrate a birthday than with a Stella McCartney-themed cake??? via apollinas)

Kira

If you've had the chance to be at Lincon Center during fashion week, you know that it's a total mad house with chic people and photographers EVERYWHERE. I have gotten shot by photographers on the street before, but I never take pictures of others just because it's not my thing and there's always too many photographers in the area already.
Well, when I saw Kira, I knew I needed to stop and snap a photo (with my crappy 3 year old camera) so that I could share her look with all of you. Kira was lovely and she was more then happy to oblige. She told me she's a style editor at The Huffington Post! Cool, right? Her look was my favorite look of the night. The simplicity in her outfit was perfect and I love a good, simple, clean look. White shirt, black jeans, black boots, black bag, gold watch. You can't go wrong! Thanks Kira!

A Feather In Her Hair

I just fell in love with this shot. Is that a headpiece?  A headband? Who made it? I don't know. But what I do know is that I now need to get a huge feather so that I can attach it to my head somehow. This is a million times better then those fish lure hair extensions that everyone got over the summer. J'adore!
