Hair Inspiration: Refined vs. Relaxed

We all know that your hair never actually turns out like it does in the pictures. That's why it's an 'inspiration' not a 'DIY'. But nonetheless, these pics are gorgeous, and the ideas are great.

Just One More Prom...

So geeky. But I love it.

I went to prom with my friend Jack last weekend! It was so fun! This was the first time (um, in my life?) that I attempted to wear a floor-length gown. It was an incredible dress. Goodness gracious. But it was from Rent-The-Runway, so it had to be sent back promptly, which broke my heart. I LOVED this dress, you guys. It's a David Meister, and it felt like a dream. I had these shoes that were perfect for the dress, but when the dress actually arrived I saw that it was much longer than I originally planned. So I had to wear 5-inch wedges! But I lasted pretty long in them. I credit that to fashion week and running in heels. haha

Dress: David Meister via Rent The Runway
Bracelet: Forever21
Headband: Claire's
Clutch: Jessica McClintock
Shoes: DSW

The idea of wearing a headband never occurred to me until the day before prom when I was at the mall! I just saw this one at Claire's and I just knew it was for me!

Jack is an AMAZING drummer (check him out!), and his whole family loves music. So, getting some shots with some of their guitars was necessary (and hilarious).

Jack told me while we were in the car driving to the meetup house that none of his friends bothered to get dates. I thought he was kidding. He wasn't. So, that was interesting. haha. They were awesome guys, though.
We had so much fun!

Sarah Goes To Prom!

(I'm in the center, to the left is my Kelsey and on the right is Edith)

I finally have pictures from prom to show you! Sorry it took a few days. Prom was fun. Four of my best girlfriends came over to help me get ready, and we had a really good time. I went with my friend Alexander (it was his Junior Prom) and I think it was a good experience overall.
Almost done!

(I love how creepy my little sister can be.)

Mother dearest helping me with last-min makeup before I walk out the door. As you can see, we decided not to go with the chignon. Once I tried the dress on, we realized that having the hair down was a essential. it was such a fun look, and having the hair up would have made it a bit boring.

I was pretty happy with my makeup and nails. We went simple with makeup (like I wanted) but not TOO simple. I went with a berry-tinted lip, pink blush, and darker golds and browns around the edges of my eyelids. Oh, and mascara. Lot's of mascara.

(and this, Ladies and Gents, is The Girl In The Check Scarf. hahaha)

I was REALLY happy with how my dress turned out! The length was PERFECT and it fit despite being a wee bit tight. (The top is corset-like and doesn't have any give at all. Scary stuff.) Luckily, we made it work.
I'm honestly going to miss this dress. What other girl can say that their prom dress had pockets? Rent The Runway is the best.

(can you find my puppy in this pic?)

My Friends! (sans Kelsey)

Siblings! Olivia, 13, is on the left and Rebecca, 12, is on the right.

It was fun!

A few of my friends were there as well! This is Cassie (left) and Michaela. How gorgeous are they???

Whew. Prom was fun. One down, two to go. Let's do this.

Prom Prom Prom Prom Prom.

I just realized that I haven't posted in six whole days-  I haven't gone that long since last summer! yikes! I missed the blogshpere. My lack of writing can be attributed to one thing: Prom. It is upon us, or, more specifically, me. Yes. it's Junior Prom time in the Hudson Valley. I was lucky enough to get asked to not one but two Junior Proms this year; one this weekend (which I'm geeking out about and losing sleep over) and one in early June (which I know I will be geeking out about and losing sleep over). I'm going with two wonderful guys and I'm excited for both!
Here are my plans for this weekend's Prom.

I would love something like this for my nails. Something plain and simple and pretty.

The Dress!
I came across this Halston Heritage dress a few months ago while I was stalking Rent The Runway and something in my soul did a little flip when I saw it. I just knew this was 'the one.' We looked at so many other dresses, and I just kept thinking of this one! I'm so glad things worked out and I'll get to wear it. It's so me and I love it to pieces. I'm praying it will come to the knee, I would hate it if it was super short!

Hair
I'm hoping to take inspiration from Selena Gomez and give her beautiful side chignon a try. I'm also hoping to add some cute flower pins that I bought.

Shoes

My shoes are JUST like these (same brand and all) but mine are done in deep purple velvet. I love the height! They'll be great for dancing.

Jacket
In order to keep things modest, I'll be wearing a small black bolero over my dress (very similar to this one).

Makeup
I'm hoping to keep things very clean, elegant and simple. No crazy or bold colors! I really loved the makup at the Ralph Lauren's fall 2012 show. I wouldn't mind doing a thinker eye liner for a change.

And that, ladies and gents, is my prom look. I just hope I can make everything work! Let the games begin.

Spring Time!!!... It's Fine

Lily Donaldson Vogue UK 2005

It finally feels like spring! I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR SOO LONG! I like how Adam Young (The voice behind Owl City) greets spring:
Look out the window. Are you looking? Spring is finally upon us. It's getting warmer and warmer by the nano-second. Soon you'll be hitting the beach in your dad's huge flip flops and coconut-print swim trunks, so whip out those frisbees, jump on those bicycles, and break open those bags of chocolate mini-donuts. Please try to do all three at once.

Oh goodness. I think I have a major crush on him. His songs are soooo cute. You can listen to Vanilla Twilight here, and  I and my friends favorite, Hot Air Balloon here. Then there's one of my favorite song's The Bird and The Worm (don't let the title throw you off, it's a fantastic song) which you can hear here.
I KNOW that you know this one. haha. *to ten million fireflies, I'm wired 'cause I hate goodbyes*. I love it.

If it's spring that means it must be Easter! Happy Easter! I have this incredibly cute dress that I wore that I still need to show all of you... I also have a certain Prom Dress that you need to see also...

Lalala

Just a quick round up of some of my fav things...
I just may shrivel up and die if I don't have this Rebecca Taylor scarf. FALL NEEDS TO COME ASAP! *sigh* the dress is fantastic too.

I LOVE that belt! ADAM <3 the whole outfit is great.

I decided I want my prom dress to look allot like this Alice + Olivia one...

Lovely Belt, Lovely dress...

Jac makes funny faces...

Dear Miss Hilton,
Must you constantly make my eyes hurt with your ensembles? Sure Ungaro did hearts for spring,
but it doesn't mean you should  to wear them! Too much miss hilton, too much. Please stop trying so hard. Less is more.

Outside Dior

BURBERRY!!! Fashion show was yesterday! It was pretty amazing. Allot of the people watching were from Tokyo and The Phillipines and they stayed up until midnight to watch..

I took some pics of the show while I was watching, but I thought I would spare you all from my wonderful *cough* photography skills.

I totally fell in love with this coat!

Just a quick quote from Kate...
“John [Galliano] would stand on the runway and tell you a story about who you were. He’d say, ‘You’re a princess and you’ve just escaped from the castle and you’re running away from the wolves,’ and the wolves would be howling on the soundtrack, and he’d send you out, and he’d cry, ‘Run, Kate, Run!’” –Kate Moss when Grazia asked for her favorite fashion moment.
