Review: Weleda Beauty Products Are The Best Thing Since Nutella

Weleda's Sea Buckthorn body wash smells like sunshine, love, and a thousand happy puppies. Seriously. I first got to test out this stuff when I was at a fashion event in October, and it completely blew me away. It's like they crammed an entire beach into a bottle. It smells good enough to eat, and I would if I could. The liquid is a thick, pale yellow cream. It won't create tons of suds like other body washes, and it works wonders and wakes you up in a snap. I'm still living at home (until June), and in a desperate attempt to make the bottle last as long as possible, I took a permanant marker to my bottle and wrote: 'Please don't use this. Sarah loves you, but this is hers.'

Ever since I got a chance to try the body wash, I've been obsessed with Weleda products. So you can imagine my sheer joy and delight when the Weleda team heard about my affection for their products and offered to send me a few more. That was a glorious day in the life of Sarah. The team was also kind enough to send me the Sea Buckthorn lotion, and I fell in love all over again. I swear: it smells like happiness and wonder. If the bottle came in a smaller size, I don't think I'd ever leave the house without it.

For the past few weeks, I've also been using Weleda's Refining Toner. This shiz is life changing. I've tried other face washes before, but this one is my favorite by far. The liquid is milky white, but its contistancy is more like water. After shaking the bottle and applying it all over your face, all you need to do is simply wash it off (and don't forget to moisturize). It's great if you want a quick and simple morning/nightly beauty routine. It smells awesome, and it really makes you up in the morning. Plus, it removes any and all traces of makeup. I've tried a few face washes before that make your skin clear and healthy as long as you use the product, but if you stop using the product your skin will actually get worse than it was before you started. That's not the case with Weleda. Use it and it'll help your face, stop using it and your face will be improved for more than a few days... But quickly go back to using it because it makes your skin look amazing. It's a commitment-free face wash, and I love it to pieces.

About Face: Amanda Hendrick For Harper's Bazaar UK By Mel Bles

via fashnberry

I'm obsessed with this super straight-forward approach to shooting beauty editorials. It really lets the makeup speak for itself without any distractions. Also, I'm really digging the vintage-makeup-meets-modern-woman vibe. Fantastic editorial!

Anne Vyalitsyna by Katie Bleacher & Dean Everard for Harper's Bazaar Russia February 2013

A gorgeous, airy editorial starring a freckle-faced model = I'm in love! After having freckles my entire life, it makes me happy to see makeup artists embracing them rather than covering them up. This ed makes me want to re-think my typical, foundation-heavy makeup routine. Also, tulle collars, anyone?

Fashion Week Outfit, Feat. Qi Cashmere and Craft & Culture

With February's New York Fashion Week just around the corner, I thought I would show you my favorite outfit from last fashion week. I was lucky enough to work with two amazing brands to pull the outfit together (Qi Cashmere and Craft & Culture), and the result was one really excited me. Check it out!

The sweater from Qi Cashmere is beautiful. The material is lightweight but very warm, and the knit and fit are perfect. It's great for dressing up or hanging out in a pair of jeans in, and it's something I'll be able to wear for many seasons to come.

The amazing necklace is a one-of-a-kind piece by designer Meghann Sommer. I saw it online and I wanted it instantly. What it didn't expect was that it would weigh a ton (it has a leather strap that goes around your neck instead of a chain), but getting to wear something so special was worth it!  I love statement pieces, and the ones Meghann makes are incredible. I really hope to buy some of her pieces one day.

The lip color I used is really cool product from OCC Cosmetics called Lip Tar. I love it because it can be applied as light or as heavy as you want, and it wears for a long time. The product comes in the tiniest little tube, but it lasts for months because very light application is encouraged. The rusty red color I used is called Starling

Craft & Culture also let me borrow this beautifully simple necklace from designer Fail to wear. It's such a sweet little piece! It's so comfortable that you forget you're wearing it.

And, of course, bloopers.

Meeting Nicoline, And How She Changed My Perspective On Models

All the models backstage at the WHIT show were chatting, texting, posing for a camera, or touching up their makeup. All, that is, except one model. She stood out like a sore thumb. Her wide-brim hat made her 5 '8 frame over 6ft tall, and she was off to the side with a nervous, serious look on her face. She looked really young, - I guessed maybe 15 - and she was all alone, constantly fidgeting and adjusting her outfit. I just knew it was her first season. A small part of me wanted to take a picture because she had such a striking look, but the real reason I asked to take her picture was because she looked like she could use a light-hearted chat. She gave me a few serious poses with the hat on, and I asked if I could I take a picture or two with her hat off. As soon as the overpowering hat was removed, her entire demeanor softened, resulting in the shot above. After I was done with photos, I said 'So... Is this your first season?'
I found out her name was Nicoline, she was a senior in high school, and she was away from home to be at fashion week. I was really surprised to find out that she was 17, and she was equally surprised to find out that I was as well. We talked about her success so far (this was indeed her first fashion week), and balancing fashion and school. We had to stop chatting when the models had to leave, so we wished her good luck with the rest of her week and she left.
Befofore I met Nicoline, I though of all models as just that - models. Pretty canvases who showcase designer clothes. It didn't really occur to me that these are very young girls who are very often far from home. Many don't speak English, and some have never been outside of their country before. Now when I see models during fashion week, especially the ones who don't look much older than I am, I start to wonder all about their lives. Rather than analyzing their look or their walk, I wonder how were they scouted, where they're from, if they're nervous, etc. It has really made me less judgmental. I'm grateful that I got to get to know Nicoline, but I'm even more grateful that she was able to give me some perspective on what today's aspiring models are going through.

Nonoo By Misha Nonoo Spring 2013 Presentation

This middle look is my favorite from the collection. The colors blend so perfectly. (and who doesn't love a good mint blazer?)

I loved the Nonoo presentation. Misha Nonoo is definitely one to watch! Her collection was perfectly on trend, featuring incredibly fun and quirky prints (that still managed to be very sane and wearable). Patterns ranged from cheeky flamingos on a full-length dress to petite stars on a blazer. Although the collection screamed ladylike, it was kept young and casual with cobalt blue drawstring pants, T-shirts, and short-but-not-tacky hem lengths.
She also did a few dresses with flouncy hemlines which were definitely a collection highlight (also, I'm biased, because I completely fell in love with them).

I also really loved her use of lace. A lot of designers this did season did lace here, there, and everywhere. But Misha's use of lace was very sophisticated, tasteful, and classic.

For an extra shot of sportiness, the entire collection was styled with chunky white shoes (even the long ball-gown style skirts!). It was such a fun, unexpected detail!

I loved the sheer paneling on these looks. It's a nice update to a classic idea. I'd wear the white dress on the far right in a second!

I was a big fan of the hair and makeup. The orangey lips were perfect, and I'm really considering attempting the Frida Kahlo-inspired hair with fabric woven into the braids.

This was the first time I was able to see a collection from Misha, and I was thoroughly impressed by the expert craftsmanship and accessibility of the clothes. I’m looking forward to seeing what she does in the future! You can check out past collections on the Nonoo website.

Backstage At Jason Wu Spring 2012 By Jamie Beck

I have no idea how I missed these photos from backstage at Jason Wu's spring 2012 show! Jamie Beck + Jason Wu = a perfect combination. J'adore!
