Dressing For College With Bardot

Yes, you read that correctly. I"M GOING TO COLLEGE. And soon, too! I've been accepted to BYU (aka, my dream school) for the summer 2013 semester. I honestly can't wait. I've already picked my housing and classes, and I'm so ready to dive into the college environment. It really breaks my heart to have to leave my family and friends earlier than expected, but I'm looking forward to the new experiences and friends that college will bring. Also, my blog will continue to be updated, so fear not!

But now that I've got all things school-related sorted out, what do I do about clothes? I'll be making the *very* dramatic culture shift from New York to Utah, and I really don't want to loose my darker, more edgy NY style in favor of Utah's sunnier, sweeter fashion sense. Bardot to the rescue! They have some of the sickest accessories, and I'm in love with their uber-trendy dresses. Here are my favorite pieces from their website that I'm dying to take with me to college:

This is an awesome piece. Peplums have been hot for a few seasons now, and this is a great way to add a peplum to any look in a matter of seconds.

Utah weather is skitso. It can be 87 degrees one day and snowing the next, so I have a feeling that hoodies are going to come in really handy.

Plain. Pure. Perfect.

I'm normally not a fan of clutches because they don't leave you hands-free, however, with a strap option this bag would be gorgeous. Practicality first!

Again, this will be great for unpredictable Utah weather.

Be. Still. My. Soul.

Compensation for this post was provided by Bardot. Opinions expressed here are my own.

Miss Coco Rocha: the undisputed queen of posing. I love the energy that she brings to a shoot. Also, the Carven dress in the 4th picture is killer. Sorry for the week long hiatus. I've had some big school projects to tackle. Have a fantastic weekend, Lovelies!

Introducing The 3Doodler: Word's First 3D Printing Pen

My hands started shaking as I started watching the intro video for the 3Doodler- the word's first 3D printing pen. I've practically been praying for an affordable 3D printing alternative! I think this is a fantastic concept, and it will only get better with time and future upgrades. It's an awesome resource for crafters, kids, artists, and basically everyone to create something in mere moments. But aside from its 'fun factor',  I really think that the 3Doodler concept can be a real game changer in the ever-growing 3D printing industry (don't you just love it when technology changes the world? #MySmarterCommerce). As I've mentioned before, I desperately want to be an industrial designer, and I think the 3Doodler will become a huge help when it comes to making prototypes; it will help designers to visualize their concept almost instantly- even faster than traditional 3D printing. Now, the quality of these 3Doodler creations is definitely nowhere near today's 3D printing technologies, but it gives us something that traditional 3D printing doesn't: instant gratification and the ability to go free-hand. I don't plan on buying the first version of the 3Doodler because I feel like more powerful, refined versions will come out within the next year or so, but that definitely doesn't mean that I'm not dying to get my hands on one. I'll just have to stick to paper creations and CAD projects until that day comes.

You can back/purchase the 3Doodler via its Kickstarter campaign. Within less than 24 hours, it's already gained $259,000 in funding (it's original goal was just $30,000)!

Big News: IBM Smarter Commerce x The Girl In The Check Scarf!

IBM is embarking on an exciting new campaign all about how we interact with technology. They've hand-picked the participants, and I'm honored and excited to take part in campaign. As far as I know, I'm the only teenager involved, and that really means a lot to me!

IBM has an great service called Smarter Commerce that helps businesses reach their maximum potential by utilizing advancing technologies, and they've asked me to talk about how I use technology to advance my own goals and enhance my life- which is something very near and dear to my heart. From the very start of my life, I've always been fascinated by new technologies and innovation. Technology can help solve problems ranging from 'What should I do tonight?' to 'Let's crowdsource cancer research!'. Because of this, technology is my drug of choice. I literally cried the first time I saw my blog formatted by OnSwipe on a tablet (you can read about that here); articles about 3D printing helped me realize my desire to be an industrial designer; I went to my room and cried when Steve Jobs died; and I'm writing my senior thesis about technology patent wars. I believe that today's advancing technologies are building a better, brighter tomorrow, and I want to help that tomorrow come today by working in industrial design. Technology plays a huge role in my life - classes with Coursera have helped me broaden my horizons; Khan Academy saved me from failing trig; and the internet taught me all I needed to know about the business of fashion. I'm CONSTANTLY finding apps and having experiences with technology that change my life for the better. Now, with the help of IBM, I'll be sharing those experiences with you.

Throughout the month of February, I'll be talking about how technology and social media help me to be a better student, a better writer, a better friend, and a better blogger, using the hashtag #MySmarterCommerce. I want you to join me! As fashion bloggers (and non-fashion bloggers!), we're especially connected to the world around us. So, I pose to you the question: How do technology and social media affect and enhance your life? Next time you have an awesome experience with technology, make sure you tweet me about it (@theposhkid) using the hashtag #MySmarterCommerce. I'll be happy to re-tweet! In my own life, my iPad helps me to be a more efficient fashion blogger- ESPECIALLY during fashion week. It enables me to quickly share tweets about the hottest new collections; it helps me take and edit runway photos; and with awesome apps like Blogsy, I can quickly share my collection reviews with the Blogosphere.

I'm so excited to begin this journey with IBM, and I can't wait to hear all about your awesome adventures-in-technology! Stay tuned!
