Latest Obsession: Elle & Blair Clutches

You've been there: you hear your phone ringing, and you dive into your bag to grab it. In the meantime, you pick up 3 or 4 things that you think are your phone, and by the time you actually rescue your phone from the eternal abyss that is your handbag, you've missed your call. I think I have this problem 2 or 3 times a day. Now, I love over-sized bags when I need them for school books and long trips, but when it comes to every day life, I really only need the basic necessities like my phone, keys, wallet, and lip balm.

The solution? A clutch meant strictly for your phone and a few other necessities. Luckily, Elle & Blair have you covered with their beautiful Roasted Walnut clutch from their Wild Wild Bliss collection for Cellairis. I absolutely LOVE this bag! It's perfect for all the essentials, whether you're going to a party or just going to the mall. It's light weight, super chic, and I love using it.

Dressing For College With Bardot

Yes, you read that correctly. I"M GOING TO COLLEGE. And soon, too! I've been accepted to BYU (aka, my dream school) for the summer 2013 semester. I honestly can't wait. I've already picked my housing and classes, and I'm so ready to dive into the college environment. It really breaks my heart to have to leave my family and friends earlier than expected, but I'm looking forward to the new experiences and friends that college will bring. Also, my blog will continue to be updated, so fear not!

But now that I've got all things school-related sorted out, what do I do about clothes? I'll be making the *very* dramatic culture shift from New York to Utah, and I really don't want to loose my darker, more edgy NY style in favor of Utah's sunnier, sweeter fashion sense. Bardot to the rescue! They have some of the sickest accessories, and I'm in love with their uber-trendy dresses. Here are my favorite pieces from their website that I'm dying to take with me to college:

This is an awesome piece. Peplums have been hot for a few seasons now, and this is a great way to add a peplum to any look in a matter of seconds.

Utah weather is skitso. It can be 87 degrees one day and snowing the next, so I have a feeling that hoodies are going to come in really handy.

Plain. Pure. Perfect.

I'm normally not a fan of clutches because they don't leave you hands-free, however, with a strap option this bag would be gorgeous. Practicality first!

Again, this will be great for unpredictable Utah weather.

Be. Still. My. Soul.

I'm crazy in love with these pictures of Jac! They actually make me want to go out and buy something pink! (A feeling I can honestly say I've never experienced before.)

Outfit Analysis: Hedvig Opshaug

Pictures from here and here

I have to much fun doing these 'outfit dissection' posts. Today's well-dressed street style darling is Hedvig Opshaug. Her lovely looks showed up on practically every major street style blog during fashion month. I really liked this look in particular. It just works! Not to mention the combination of pieces is a street style photographers dream. Here's why...

The Hat:The fashion-y baseball hat was huge for spring. Also, it's Miu Miu, natch.
The Clutch: Metallic and square. For spring it's perfection. Dozens of glossies were pushing the The boxy shape, and metals have been a thing for quite a few seasons now.
The Jewelry: The super-thin rings have been popping up all over the place on tumblr, and I think they're beautiful and elegant. The statement ring is YSL, and it's considered a classic piece.
The Pants: The light contrast helps the hat match (to an extent), and the black stripe is part of the 'sporty' trend for spring 2012. (I personally like this approach- I liked the 'sport' trend, but I didn't want to run around in neon mesh screaming "I'm chic!". The stripe is subtle, and really quite cool.)
The Jacket: The shape is amazing, and I love the rounded back. It really stands out! She's also choosing to wear it how most editors choose to wear their coats during fashion week, which is over the shoulders. (This styling idea never quite never made sense to me I would always try it and my jacket would just awkwardly fall to the ground. There must be a special skill that editors have that I, a homely blogger, have not yet obtained.)
The Sweater: It's a perfect fir for her frame. It's just subtle enough to let the other parts of the look stand out, yet it's sleeves compliment the shape and volume of the jacket.

Also, is Hedvig blogs! And it's a pretty good blog at that. Check it out here.

Kate Bosworth in Valentino

This dress is just too gorgeous, I'm obsessed with it! Kate always looks fantastic, but this look really stands out. I love seeing black on the red carpet because it's so elegant. I wish people took risks and wore it more. Her makeup is stunning and I really want to try it in real life. Also, she accessorized it perfectly! Bag, shoes, earrings? Gah!  Perfecto, Kate. Just Perfect.
