Fashion Week Outfit, Feat. Qi Cashmere and Craft & Culture

With February's New York Fashion Week just around the corner, I thought I would show you my favorite outfit from last fashion week. I was lucky enough to work with two amazing brands to pull the outfit together (Qi Cashmere and Craft & Culture), and the result was one really excited me. Check it out!

The sweater from Qi Cashmere is beautiful. The material is lightweight but very warm, and the knit and fit are perfect. It's great for dressing up or hanging out in a pair of jeans in, and it's something I'll be able to wear for many seasons to come.

The amazing necklace is a one-of-a-kind piece by designer Meghann Sommer. I saw it online and I wanted it instantly. What it didn't expect was that it would weigh a ton (it has a leather strap that goes around your neck instead of a chain), but getting to wear something so special was worth it!  I love statement pieces, and the ones Meghann makes are incredible. I really hope to buy some of her pieces one day.

The lip color I used is really cool product from OCC Cosmetics called Lip Tar. I love it because it can be applied as light or as heavy as you want, and it wears for a long time. The product comes in the tiniest little tube, but it lasts for months because very light application is encouraged. The rusty red color I used is called Starling. 

Craft & Culture also let me borrow this beautifully simple necklace from designer Fail to wear. It's such a sweet little piece! It's so comfortable that you forget you're wearing it.

Outfit Post With Brooklyn Industries!

I had so much fun shooting these pictures with my good friend Randi! The lovely people at Brooklyn Industries were kind enough to let me test-drive their Devon blouse. My style is typically much more edgy (for proof of this fact, see here), so it was really nice to give softer colors and silhouettes a try. The blouse was beautifully made, and I loved all the pleating! I decided to throw a printed silk T-shirt under the blouse to keep it modest.

Outfit Post With Sugarlips Apparel!

Those of you who have been following The Girl In The Check Scarf for a while will know that I generally shy away from posting photos of myself unless I have something awesome, incredible, amazing, or downright fantastic to show you. Well, I think these pictures qualify!  I was so excited and grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Sugarlips clothing and my good friend Randi. I was a bit nervous about taking photos (I'm a far cry from Gisele) but Randi did a superb job photographing the look and I couldn't believe how well the photos came out. 

Sugarlips (our wonderful new sponsor) sent me their Blooming Gardenias skirt with the intention that I put my own spin on it. My style is far from girly, so I toughened things up a bit with wedges, a leather jacket and some shades. I really loved the rocker look, and I thought it contrasted well with such a feminine, flowy skirt! The asymmetric hem is a nice detail, too- it makes the skirt really fresh and very on-trend. I'm really considering wearing it to fashion week!

Fashion By Feelings + The Girl In The Check Scarf (Outfit Post!)

I was recently contacted by Woolmark about their newly-launched campaign, Fashion By Feelings! I was thrilled to take part, and I was happy to post an outfit of me wearing wool. I'm a HUGE fan of wool, specifically cashmere and merino. They are so soft, and perfect for this upcoming fall season. (I'm not a pro at doing outfit shots yet, but I did my best!)

(This pouty face is a result of what happens when your sister tells you to stop smiling in your photos so much. Personally, though, I like smiling so much better.)

My shoes were bright blue, and I thought it would be nice to mix it with a blue bracelet to balance out the black in the outfit. 

My wool sweater is thrifted, my skirt is from Marshall's, my shoes are Forever21, and my bracelet was a gift.

I really love the site and I think it's quite a bit of fun (also, the music on the website is fantastic. I tend to leave it up while I'm answering my emails). Latest Obsession: CelesteMichelle Jewelry

  I was recently sent this bracelet from the adorable brand CelesteMichelle! Isn't it a beaut? I loved the pink leather pieces!
(Why I thought modeling this with my hand on my head was a good idea, I'll never know.)

 I really fell in love with this bracelet.

 It also gave me a really good excuse to test-drive the stacking trend. I think I over-stacked, but hey, it was my first time. haha.
