Latest Obsession: Beauty Spot

I'm CRAZY about this inter-stellar jewelry from the darling Etsy shop, Beauty Spot.
Astrology was my favorite subject in high school by leaps and bounds, and I love that you can now wear little reminders of how cool the universe is. Aside from their amazing planet jewelry, they also have other very special pieces as well. Check out Beauty Spot!

Here's some of my favorite non-galaxy related pieces:

I was also pleased to see that the pieces are pretty well priced considering the design and quality. You can also order something custom if the above pieces haven't already stolen your heart. Check out Beauty Spot!

This is an oldie, but a goodie. I love the print mixing and bold jewelry. Arthur Elgort is wonderful!

Prom Prom Prom Prom Prom.

I just realized that I haven't posted in six whole days-  I haven't gone that long since last summer! yikes! I missed the blogshpere. My lack of writing can be attributed to one thing: Prom. It is upon us, or, more specifically, me. Yes. it's Junior Prom time in the Hudson Valley. I was lucky enough to get asked to not one but two Junior Proms this year; one this weekend (which I'm geeking out about and losing sleep over) and one in early June (which I know I will be geeking out about and losing sleep over). I'm going with two wonderful guys and I'm excited for both!
Here are my plans for this weekend's Prom.

I would love something like this for my nails. Something plain and simple and pretty.

The Dress!
I came across this Halston Heritage dress a few months ago while I was stalking Rent The Runway and something in my soul did a little flip when I saw it. I just knew this was 'the one.' We looked at so many other dresses, and I just kept thinking of this one! I'm so glad things worked out and I'll get to wear it. It's so me and I love it to pieces. I'm praying it will come to the knee, I would hate it if it was super short!

Hair
I'm hoping to take inspiration from Selena Gomez and give her beautiful side chignon a try. I'm also hoping to add some cute flower pins that I bought.

Shoes

My shoes are JUST like these (same brand and all) but mine are done in deep purple velvet. I love the height! They'll be great for dancing.

Jacket
In order to keep things modest, I'll be wearing a small black bolero over my dress (very similar to this one).

Makeup
I'm hoping to keep things very clean, elegant and simple. No crazy or bold colors! I really loved the makup at the Ralph Lauren's fall 2012 show. I wouldn't mind doing a thinker eye liner for a change.

And that, ladies and gents, is my prom look. I just hope I can make everything work! Let the games begin.

Pastel + Rock

Nicole by Rasmus Skousen for Grazia France

I know that pastels have been one of the biggest trends for spring, but I never liked them until I saw this editorial. Mixed with the sharper cuts and metallic accents, they look really, really cool. Also, how sick are the sunglasses in the first shot??? I'm in love!

Amazing Jewelry Elizabeth Patterson and Meghann Sommers (That I Get To Wear!)

What could be inside the fascinating brown box? Why, I'll show you...
THIS. In all it's amazing glory.
As I mentioned in my last post, the fantastical people at Craft and Culture were kind enough to lend me some of their incredible items to wear during NYFW. I really love the idea behind Craft and Culture because it focuses on showcasing and highlighting new designers of all kinds. The talent that they have on their website is stunning and I highly recommend that you check them out. This necklace is from &c. by Meghann Sommers, and I fell in love with it the very moment I saw it. The quartz cluster is HUGE and it totally claims the title of being the heaviest necklace I have every had the pleasure of wearing. I really need to be careful when I'm wearing it. That thing could be used as a weapon. The crystal is enormous, cloud-like, beautiful, and a fantastic centerpiece for an outfit. I love how natural it looks-- like it was plucked straight from some mind-blowingly incredible mine and placed on a chain to be worn as art. You can read more about it here. Something I didn't realize until after it was sent to me is that this necklace is one of a kind. So, basically I have the only one. I don't mean 'well, duh, every crystal is different." I mean, I have the only one of this style.  That makes me feel rather special.
The second necklace is this stunning little gem from Elizabeth Patterson. I loooove this one, you guys. It's light, it's a great accent to so many outfits, and the color and tone are gorgeous. You can read more about it here. Something about this piece is really personal to me, due to the fact that it was hand crafted, and Elizabeth's initials are stamped into it. That little detail really means a lot to me, because I think today we have lost that connection between artist and buyer. The quartz is a little jagged, giving it that 'perfectly-imperfect' feel. It's a really beautiful stone, and you can see right through it. This is also a 'one-of-a-kind-I-have-the-only-one-in-the-world-gee-I-feel-super-cool' piece.
 Can you see the initials?

Huge thanks to Craft and Culture, &c., and Elizabeth Patterson for being kind enough to let me borrow these wearable works of art. I'm so excited wear them this week! I'm planning to work the &c. necklace into my outfit today, and I can't wait to show you the result.
PS. Craft and Culture, &c. and Elizabeth Patterson all have pretty rad blogs (see here for CC, here for &c., and here for EP)

Five Things I Loved At Sass & Bide Spring 2012

Sass & Bide has been a favorite brand of mine for ages! They always surprise me each season with their fresh take on prints, cuts and colors. Their Spring 2012 collection featured everything from chic black and white polka dots to proper collared shirts (in a shocking shade of yellow, of course) to clean minimalism frocks and neon necklaces. In light of all this, you can imagine how excited I was to snag some shots of the collection! Here are just a few of my favorite things that I saw at Sass and Bide...

1. Zig Zag - I love the sheer fabric mixed with the bold yellow. So fun.

2. Cobalt- Oh my goodness, you have no idea how badly I want this skirt! The asymmetrical hemline is flawless and the color is perfect!

3. Metallics- I never met a metallic, well, anything that I didn't like.

4. Sparkles!

5. How adorable are Sass & Bide's leading ladies Heidi Middleton and Sarah-Jane Clarke with their girls on the runway? Awwwww.

Here are some of my other favorite looks...
(Oh, how I love a good maxi skirt.)
Detail shots by me, runway photos from elle.com

Big thanks to Sass & Bide for letting me get some snaps of the collection! Check then out on the web at www.SassandBide.com and check out the spring 2012 lookbook here (It's pretty amazing.)

Latest Obsession: CelesteMichelle Jewelry

I was recently sent this bracelet from the adorable brand CelesteMichelle! Isn't it a beaut? I loved the pink leather pieces!
(Why I thought modeling this with my hand on my head was a good idea, I'll never know.)
I really fell in love with this bracelet.

It also gave me a really good excuse to test-drive the stacking trend. I think I over-stacked, but hey, it was my first time. haha.
Bracelets from left to right: Harrods, Claire's, birthday present (unknown), Candace Ang, CelesteMichelle, Claire's, vintage charm bracelet.

Here are some other pieces I really loved...

I need one of these cuffs in my life! Wouldn't they add the perfect pop of color to an outfit? And it would work so well with the color blocking trend.  All CelesteMichelle pieces are under $100! You can find them at  Bloomingdales and Fenwick Bond Street. The bracelet I was sent is only available in the studio, price upon request (call 212-239-0088 or email info@celestemichelle.com).
