Latest Obsession: Mathieu Mirano Fall 2012

Back in February I was invited to designer Mathieu Mirano's presentation of his fall 2012 collection, but due to scheduling conflicts I was unable to attend. I deeply regret missing it! This collection was such a strong debut, and I can only imagine the amazing things he will present once he becomes a more seasoned designer. His fabric choices are visually stunning, and I love seeing which fabrics he chose to pair together (I love the fur and sheer pieces!). I'm so excited to see what he has in store for us in the future! I'm counting on great things from this man.

Weekend Obsessions

Hello Lovelies! I hope you had a great week this week. I'm so glad the weekend is finally here! There's a couple things I have been obsessing over lately. Like...
The thrill of a new purchase.

Fantastic vintage looks. (This is from 1957!) The 1950's silhouette has always been a favorite of mine.

Loafers, of all things. They're so perfect for fall! This pair is Tommy Hilfiger.

Everyday sparkles. How fantastic are these!?

Leftover Halloween candy. My friend came to me yesterday and said "I'm so proud of myself. I finished my candy by November 3rd! It's a new personal record!" Well, I'm happy for him. And we're not going to bring up the fact that he's been feeling sick recently. hahaha.

What have you been obsessing over recently? Also, don't forget to follow me on Twitter! Have a beautiful autumn weekend, Lovelies! Love, SJ

I Love Claires.com. Really.

Hi Lovelies! So this week I got an email from the absolutely wonderful people at Claires.com, and they sent me over some gorgeous items to take a look at! I have been shopping at Claire's since I was about 8 and I remember calling my friends and talking about my purchases. This Christmas my sisters made me a loooong list of things they wanted from Claire's stores. I guess it runs in the family?

First off, I was sent this great floral eyeshadow palette! I love it because the colors show very nicely and the eyeshadow is very pigmented. You don't need to apply to much for the color to show. Everything from the dark black to the silver comes off well, and stays on all day.
Okay, I literally cannot stop wearing this head wrap. I like it better then a regular hat, because it works as both a hat and earmuff. It keeps you so warm, and I love the vibrant color! The size is adjustable with a button in the back, so it can be worn loose or tight. I'm a really big fan of head wraps in general, so I was really thrilled with this product. I would recommend this to everyone and anyone.

These gloves are very warm as well. They gave you that great 'ooooh-it's-freezing-and-I'm-happy-I-have-gloves-on' feeling. I like the design because it leaves your fingers free, and again, they're a great color. I also like that the sleeves are long and keep your wrists warm, unlike other mittens that stop at the wrist. It can be kind of hard to unbutton the gloves once the mitten is on your hand, and the knit came a little undone where the mitten flap and glove meet. This made me quite sad because I really do like them. Thank goodness I know how to sew.

Lastly, they sent me this incredible bag! I have been using it for a few days now, and it's the perfect size. The strap is nice and long which leaves you hands-free, and the buckles have a magnetized snap on the back to keep them in place. In all seriousness, this is a perfect bag. Not to mention, it reminds me of Mullberry's Alexa bag. haha. The design is great and it has lots of lovely compartments inside for storage.

More reviews to come! Have a great day.

Happy Birthday, Blog!

So here we are! One year, 240 posts later!
It has been such an adventure and I have loved every bit of it! Thank you so much for all your comments, emails and support! Thank you for reading my blog. I love you Lovelies so much! I have learned so much through this blog and I have made so many friends from around the world. It has helped me gain knowledge of journalism and increased my knowledge of fashion drastically. Thank you for wanting to hear what I have to say and for letting me express myself. I know everyone says it, but I truly love blogging. This blog is always on my mind whether it's post ideas or ways to make it better. I have gained so much and my love of fashion has grown immensely. I really just started out because I knew that I loved fashion, but now I really see that it's something I want as a career. Since the blog has started, I have become a fashion student and had multiple internships (all brought about by the blog!). I'm really unbelievably thrilled at how big the blog has gotten. I have enjoyed this experience more then you know! I always love hearing from you, so drop me a line whenever you can. Once again, thank you thank you thank you, and happy birthday, The Girl In The Check Scarf. Love, Justine.

(I did this for the 6 month mark and I thought I would do it again!) Here are my favorite posts after one year...

It's always been about the inspiring photography that I love so very much.

... I seem to have developed an odd obsession with Balloons.

I can't even begin to count how many posts I have done about red lipstick! Love it.

Celine! Helped me develop a love of simplicity. And I really recived a love of Celine, Chloe and Hermes via the blog.

This image is one of my favorites ever.

I turned 15!

I'm still a brunette! Yes, red hair is GORGEOUS but I like being me.

No, no trips to Paris just yet. But don't worry. It's gonna happen.

It's all about the matchy-ness.

Still crushing on this guy!

This post barley just went up, but it's already one of my favorites!

I love old books.

Whimsical editorials are the best editorials.

I think I have posted every good Emma Watson photo I can get my hands on! I love this girl.

Shoes and chic kids. Oh yes.
